Organ Notes

Notes like vapor
rolling, tumbling, roiling—
pierced by Organ pipes, taper
down slopes, eerily creeping.
Gentle and swift,
soft edges of mist
like a force of nature shift
down to the ears, kissed
a valley so low
far from the uproar,
yet softly, sweetly slow
the notes float in the door.
Melodious in dry lands
these clouds descend,
played by skillful hands—
the deaf drought they end.
Coarse bush and cacti
watered well with a tune,
gradually notes untie
the heat of June.
